Fred Waller

Awarded in

Considered for years to be the "Father of water skiing" until the "Discovery" of Ralph Samuelson. He designed both conventional skis and the type with bridles on the tips. He filled a patent on the bridle type in 1925 because they were easier to ride. Unbeknown to Waller, this was three years after Samuelson did his thing in Lake Pepin, MN. Waller died May 18, 1954.
