Lou and AWSA volunteer who can fairly be called the father of the AWSA skiers rating system. Lou was chairman of the rating committee from 1963 to 1974 and continued to serve on the committee until 1982. He is the first person to do a TBB (Toe Back to Back) in the 1961 Nationals, however his attempt to become the first to do it was unsuccessful. He was one of the first recipients of the AWSA Award of merit when it was established in 1975.
