Kiara Tenorio of Spring Valley, California, is the winner of the $1500 "Big Al" Wagner—Western Region Scholarship. She is a Senior studying Biology at the University of California—Los Angeles. She plans to join the Navy and become an Orthodontist. Her goal is to work in the underserved communities in San Diego.
"I am incredibly grateful to the foundation for their generosity in awarding me this scholarship and for their continued support of collegiate water skiers. This award not only recognizes our commitment to our teams and community but also greatly aids me in pursuing my career in dentistry. It inspires me to strive for academic excellence and make a positive impact both on and off the water," says Kiara.
The "Big Al" Wagner/Western Region Scholarship is given annually to an AWSA Western Region Skier qualified for the Western Regional Water Ski Tournament.
The USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation scholarships are awarded each year to water skiers who show leadership abilities and demonstrate that involvement in the sport has helped them grow both personally and academically.
