Dawn Itin Goode has established the Dave Goode Scholarship to honor her husband Dave to award a scholarship to the AWSA and NCWSA skiers from the Midwest Region that are pursuing a degree in Engineering or Mathematics. These were always the most passionate subject areas in Dave’s life.
Dave was the founder and president of Goode Ski Technologies, originally doing business in Waterford, Michigan then relocating to Ogden, Utah. He used his innovative engineering techniques to build carbon fiber slalom skis that have revolutionized the slalom event over the past two decades.
Through his numerous technological advancements in both water skiing and snow skiing, and financial support of countless events and athletes in both sports, Dave touched the lives of thousands of people by helping them, and the sports they love, push the limits of performance.
Dave skied in both the Midwest and Western Regionals, more than 40 US National Championships, several Senior World Championships and nearly every Big Dawg Tour stop and Finals since its inception.
Dave and the company he founded in 1975 when he was just 19 years old, Goode Ski Technologies, was the title sponsor of the GOODE US National Waterski Championships for more than 20 years.
A 2014 USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Hall of Fame Award of Distinction recipient and member of the Michigan Water Ski Hall of Fame, Dave was an accomplished national and international competitor in water skiing, wrapping up his long career by earning a bronze medal in trick skiing at the 2019 Pan American Senior Water Ski Championships.
Established in 1968, the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation preserves and celebrates the history of all towed water sports and promotes these sports through our Scholarship Programs and the Water Ski & Wake Sports Hall of Fame. We are proud to help honor the memory of Dave Goode.
