There can be very few in the world of Waterskiing today who do not know the name Kristi Overton Johnson! Between 1985 and 2002, she was rarely off the podium. Thirty-two years ago, at the Junior World Championships in Milan, Italy, she took gold medals in Slalom and Tricks. In 1996, almost 30 years later, with a score of one buoy, she became the world’s first female to set a World Record on the 10.25m Slalom line. In the intervening years, her achievements are extraordinary. Six times US Masters Slalom Champion, two times US Masters Trick Champion, four times US Open Slalom Champion and World Slalom Champion 1999. She set five World Slalom Records between 1992 and 1996, plus Pan Am., U.S.A, Collegiate and World Cup records. Ranked number one from 1992 to 2002, some of Kristi’s many other achievements include 1994 and 1996 American Water Ski Association Female Athlete of the Year, North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and US Hall of Fame Induction, U.S.A. Olympic Committee Athlete of the Year, U.S.A. Waterski Slalom Skier of the Year and U.S.A. Waterski Skier of the Year. In 2003, Kristi established the non-profit organisation In His Wakes, introducing over 17,000 youths to water sports, holding over 65 events annually and 730 events to date. She has been known to even take her boat into maximum security prisons to bring hope and victory to incarcerated people. Kristi Overton Johnson is a State of Florida Licensed Attorney.
