Churchill, an innovator in the sport of kneeboarding, is most commonly known for popularizing kneeboarding and for his speed skiing accomplishments. He pursued major ski racing in his late teenage years where he became victorious in almost every race he participated in. Some of his victories included the 60 Mile Gran National Catalina Water Ski Race, The Lake Mead 50 and 75 mile events and the National Men's Open and class circle races. In 1972, Churchill suffered a tragic near-death accident while trying to break his world speed record of 126.4 MPH which he set in 1971. After two years of recuperating, he then turned his love of the sport into inventing and manufacturing water ski products. One such product that gained inmediate attention was the newly innovative Hydro Slide kneeboard in 1976. He popularized kneeboarding through advertising and promotions in the then newly released full color water ski publications of the late 1970's and early 1980's. He continued to develop water ski, wake boards, kneeboards and towables for many waterski companies. As an innovator, Churchill possessed many patents, his latest being the EZ Ski Trainer, a water ski trainer for young children and physically challenged individuals. Churcill was a true ambassador of the sport of water ski.
