Introduced to waterskiing in the 60s, Olaf was a very successful athlete in East Germany With over 20 titles in national championships. Due to political limitations, he was not able to participate internationally.  After the political changes in Germany and the fall of the wall, the qualified high-frequency technician became interested in measuring technology for water skiing. While his children were successfully water skiing internationally, he developed the measuring technology for the competitions.  The following information is a brief overview of his background and achievements.  Date of birth: April 24, 1949  Place of birth: Germany Waterski started in 1965. Club “WSC Kamenz” in East Germany. He was introduced to waterskiing by his Dad, Manfred Böttcher. Active years 60's and 70's Multiple East Germany Champion National record holder in Trick Skiing and Jumping Achievements in technology for competitions: The invention of Video Measuring Systems for Water Skiing in 1996. Official system for Jump measuring, Trick Skiing, and Slalom since 1997 Competitions where BöttcherMeasuring Systems are being used: World Championships, EAME Championships, Asian Pacific Championships, Pan-Am Games,World Games,Water Ski World Cup Events oWater Sports Games, International Competitions on all Continents, National Championships all over the world, Classic Water Ski, Cable Skiing, Barefoot. Every significant event now uses his systems for all three events. Olaf was and still is always the first person on-site and the last to leave to make sure everything is working perfectly.
