Landon Geels wins 2020 "Big Al" Wagner Western Region Scholarship

(Winter Haven, FL) - USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation scholarships are awarded each year to water skiers and riders who show leadership abilities and demonstrate that involvement in the sport has helped them grow both personally and academically.

Landon Geels from Westminster, Colorado has won the $1500 “Big Al” Wagner Western Region Scholarship. Landon is a senior at Florida Southern College majoring in Business Administration. He is a 4.0 student who plans to become a lawyer.

“I want to say thank you to the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Board Foundation for awarding me with the 2020 “Big Al” Wagner Western Region Scholarship. I feel very blessed to be a part of an organization that works to move our sport forward by providing opportunities like this to college students,” says Landon.

Landon started water skiing competitively just seven years ago and quickly became a top performer in the Western Region. As captain of the Florida Southern Water Ski Team he hopes to lead the team to their first national championship in his senior year. Landon is a rated senior slalom judge and helps at numerous tournaments across the country. He also is a volunteer coach for “Learn to Ski” days.

“I am very thankful to be enrolled at Florida Southern College where I have the opportunity to pursue both a degree… as well as my water skiing career. This scholarship will help to cover some of my tuition expenses this year and will make it possible for me to graduate… and move onto law school where I will work towards a Juris Doctor degree,” says Landon.

We are proud to support Landon as he achieves his educational and water skiing goals.

Established in 1968, the USA Water Ski & Wake Sports Foundation preserves and celebrates the history of all towed water sports and promotes these sports through our Scholarship Programs and the Water Ski & Wake Sports Hall of Fame.
